Molecular fingerprinting of biological nanoparticles with a label-free optofluidic platform
(2024)Nature CommunicationsLabel-free detection of multiple analytes in a high-throughput fashion has been one of the long-sought goals in biosensing applications. Yet, for all-optical approaches, interfacing state-of-the-art label-free techniques with microfluidics tools that can process small volumes of sample with high throughput, and with surface chemistry that grants analyte specificity, poses a critical challenge to date. Here, we introduce an optofluidic ...Journal Article -
Robust Gaussian Process Regression Method for Efficient Tunneling Pathway Optimization: Application to Surface Processes
(2024)Journal of Chemical Theory and ComputationSimulation of surface processes is a key part of computational chemistry that offers atomic-scale insights into mechanisms of heterogeneous catalysis, diffusion dynamics, and quantum tunneling phenomena. The most common theoretical approaches involve optimization of reaction pathways, including semiclassical tunneling pathways (called instantons). The computational effort can be demanding, especially for instanton optimizations with an ...Journal Article -
Supporting Teaching Assistants in a Community of Practice
(2024)Journal of Physics: Conference SeriesWe present a framework that supports physics teaching assistants in their teaching duties during exercise classes and that fosters their professional teaching development. The framework relies on the concept of Communities of Practice combining pedagogy with strategies and support for social interaction. We are discussing the positive effects of this novel approach on teaching, as well as its challenges.Journal Article -
